Super Bowl Halftime: Jay-Z Confirmed for 2027 Show

The National Football League, Apple Music, and Roc Nation announced on Monday that Jay-Z will serve as the featured artist for the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show. The performance is scheduled for February 14 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

The announcement accompanied a short video showing Jay-Z seated inside the stadium with a group of goats. The clip included the caption "GOAT's out of the bag." This follows several days of speculation regarding the identity of the upcoming performer.

The event will take place at the same venue where Jay-Z recently concluded his "Jay-Z 30" concert tour. That residency began with three shows at Yankee Stadium in New York, moved to London, and finished in Southern California over the weekend.

Jay-Z’s management company, Roc Nation, has collaborated with the NFL on entertainment productions since 2019. During that initial partnership, the rapper told NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell that if the goal was for him to perform at the Super Bowl, they could end the conversation. Seven years later, he has accepted the invitation to take the stage himself.

Since 2019, other artists have headlined the halftime shows, including Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, and The Weeknd. Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, holds 25 Grammy Awards from 89 nominations. His total nominations rank second in history, behind only his wife, Beyoncé, who has performed at two Super Bowls.

His discography includes the albums "Reasonable Doubt," "The Blueprint," and "The Black Album." Notable singles include "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)," "99 Problems," and the collaboration "Empire State of Mind" with Alicia Keys. His 1996 debut album, "Reasonable Doubt," was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame last year.

Beyond music, Jay-Z co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records and established Roc Nation in 2008. He became the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017 and joined the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. In the hours following a recent major performance, his songs saw sharp gains across streaming charts and discovery platforms, with eleven tracks ranking in Spotify's Top 50 U.S. chart the next morning.
