Smoke rose from the State University of Trade and Economics in Kyiv on the morning of October 27.

Russian ballistic missiles struck the campus late on October 26 and into the early hours of October 27. The attack damaged academic buildings, the surrounding campus territory, and student accommodation facilities. Five people connected to the university, including students and employees, sustained injuries. Initial reports of fatalities were not confirmed, and no students or staff members died in the strike.

Andrii Butenko, the Minister of Education and Science, stated that the ministry is coordinating with the university management to provide assistance. The institution is currently assessing the extent of the physical damage. Butenko noted that the attack targeted educational infrastructure, describing the strikes as a lack of pity toward children, teachers, and scientists. He urged all participants in the educational process to move to shelters immediately when an air raid warning is issued.

Anatolii Mazaraki, the vice-chancellor of SUTE, explained that the injured individuals were outdoors at the time of the impact. Other people were inside shelters and escaped harm. Two second-year students were hurt near the student housing. They sustained severe injuries, and one is waiting for surgery. The SUTE Student Council launched a fundraiser to cover their treatment costs. The injured students are Roman Balla and Anna Voloshyna.

Students and teachers helped clear debris from the site following the blast. The Ministry of Youth and Sports reported that the Ivan Piddubny Olympic College was also hit during the same wave of attacks. Children at that facility were in a shelter and were not injured.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia launched 16 ballistic missiles during the overnight period. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that one person was killed and 15 others were injured in Kyiv during the strikes.
